Recipe Instructions of Medu Vada Recipe or Easy Uzhunnu Vada:
Preparation:
- Take a bowl and soak 2 cups of urad dal in it for about 2-3 hours.
- After 3 hours, wash it, transfer the lentils into a grinding jar.
- Grind the paste for about 2-3 minutes in breaks of 1 minute.
- Make a smooth thick paste of the urad dal, make sure you don’t add a lot of water to it.
- Transfer the thick paste to a bowl, and you will have the basic dough for the vadas ready.
- Add 1 teaspoon of pepper powder to the bowl.
- Now, add 1 teaspoon of salt to the bowl.
- Next, add ¼ teaspoon of baking powder to the bowl.
- Mix the dough well in the bowl.
- Make sure there are no lumps in the dough or any lentil seeds left non-grinded.
- Now, take a pan or a kadhai and pour some oil in it to fry the vadas. Make a ball sized dough and place it on the inverted side of a round spoon.
- Slightly flatten the dough on the spoon with your hands.
- Make a small hole in between the dough with your hands.
- Now, turn the spoon and deep fry it in the oil, make sure the oil is hot and nice.
- Keep the flame of the burner medium, and make more vadas with the same process.
- Stir the frying vadas occasionally in the kadhai slowly and make sure they don’t stick to each other.
- Flip the vadas slowly in the kadhai trying not to spill the oil, fry them nicely.
- Fry the vadas till they get a nice and golden.
- Remove the vadas out of the pan, and put them on a plate. You could always use tissues to soak the extra oil on them.
- Mouth-watering and crispy medu vadas are ready to serve. Enjoy!
