The years pass and the young one’s grow up into self-sustaining adults. Their toys change into briefcases that they carry to work. Statoscopes around their necks become real as they take on noble fields in life. In this mellow process of growing up, another thing that often changes is their kitchen sets. From playful little cups of yellow and green, people turn to proper cooking utensils so that they can cook warm meals for themselves and their loved ones. In a life that is full of unavoidable changes, there are a few things that don’t change. A few things that still contain the same warmth and the same taste as they did years ago.

Ghee is a major part of the Indian household. It is not only famous for being an irreplaceable part of our Indian cuisine but also for being the core of various home remedies. Ghee consumption in Indian Kitchen varies around the country. While some parts of the country use ghee in excessive quantities for they believe that ghee provides them with power and energy, some other parts of the country don’t use it so much. Rajasthani and Punjabi food items generally have ghee in it in excess amounts when compared to other states like those of the southern India.  However, be it a Punjabi Dish or a traditional Idli breakfast, ghee plays an important part in them all.

Hence it is safe to say that almost every Indian household requires ghee regardless of the type of food that they cook. For their kitchens, some families prefer buying processed and packed ghee available in the markets. Some prefer getting it from a local dairy or store, often under the name of ‘desi ghee’. Few, however, prefer making it in their own kitchen instead of getting it from a store.
