Tandoori Tikka Masala Powder

Make your tandoori dishes taste just like the restaurant or dhaba with this homemade Tandoori Tikka Masala Powder. Packed with rich spices, smoky flavors, and vibrant color, this masala is perfect for chicken tikka, paneer tikka, fish tikka, kebabs, and tandoori curries.


Ingredients for Tandoori Tikka Masala Powder

  • Dry Red Chilies – 6 to 8 (adjust heat)

  • Coriander Seeds – 3 tbsp

  • Cumin Seeds – 2 tbsp

  • Fennel Seeds – 1 tbsp

  • Black Pepper – 1 tsp

  • Cinnamon Stick – 2 (1-inch each)

  • Cloves – 5 to 6

  • Green Cardamoms – 4

  • Black Cardamom – 1

  • Bay Leaf – 1

  • Kashmiri Red Chili Powder – 2 tbsp (for rich red color)

  • Turmeric Powder – 1 tsp

  • Dry Ginger Powder – 1 tsp

  • Garlic Powder – 1 tsp

  • Onion Powder – 1 tsp

  • Amchur Powder (Dry Mango Powder) – 1 tsp

  • Kasuri Methi (dried fenugreek leaves) – 1 tsp (lightly crushed)

  • Salt – 1 tsp (optional)


Preparation Method

  1. Dry Roast Whole Spices
    In a pan, roast red chilies, coriander seeds, cumin, fennel, black pepper, cinnamon, cloves, cardamoms, bay leaf, and black cardamom on low flame until aromatic.

  2. Cool and Grind
    Allow roasted spices to cool completely, then grind into a fine powder.

  3. Blend in Flavor Boosters
    Mix the ground spice with Kashmiri chili powder, turmeric, dry ginger, garlic powder, onion powder, amchur, kasuri methi, and salt.

  4. Store Properly
    Transfer to an airtight glass jar. Stays fresh and flavorful for 2–3 months.


How to Use Tandoori Tikka Masala Powder

  • As a Marinade: Mix 2 tbsp masala with curd, lemon juice, and a little oil. Use to marinate chicken, paneer, fish, prawns, or veggies before grilling, baking, or tandoor cooking.

  • For Gravies: Add 1–2 tsp while making tandoori chicken curry, paneer tikka masala, or smoky gravies.
