Instant Garam Masala Powder

Ingredients for Instant Garam Masala (½ Cup)

  • Coriander Seeds – 2 tbsp

  • Cumin Seeds – 1 tbsp

  • Black Peppercorns – 1 tbsp

  • Green Cardamoms – 5–6 pods

  • Cloves – 8–10

  • Bay Leaves – 2

  • Cinnamon Stick – 1 small piece

  • Nutmeg – ½ small piece

  • Black Cardamom – 1 (optional)

  • Star Anise – 1 (optional)

  • Mace – 1 piece (optional)


Preparation Method

  1. Dry Roast the Spices – In a pan, roast coriander seeds, cumin seeds, black pepper, cardamoms, cloves, cinnamon, bay leaves, nutmeg, and optional spices on low flame for 2–3 minutes until fragrant.

  2. Cool Completely – Let the roasted spices cool to room temperature to preserve aroma.

  3. Grind to Fine Powder – Transfer the cooled spices into a blender or mixer and grind into a smooth, fine powder.

  4. Store Fresh – Keep in an airtight jar. Stays aromatic for 2–3 months.


How to Use Instant Garam Masala

  • Add 1–2 tsp while cooking curries, dal, biryanis, or vegetable sabzis.

  • Perfect for chicken, mutton, fish, or paneer gravies to elevate flavor instantly.
